for this blanket, i used a size N hook and two strands of yarn held together - using a smaller hook and one strand of yarn, or a steel hook and crochet thread, would give you a different result - i believe this pattern could be made as big or as small as you wanted by working more or less rounds, but i haven't tried that - lastly, i included where i changed colors, but the colors could be changed after any round to make the stripes different widths
With black/pink variegated yarn, ch 8, sl st in 1st chain to form ring

i did NOT design this pattern, therefore i can't take credit for it - the original pattern could be found at www.angelcrafts.net/roundripple.html; however, this site is currently closed due to upgrading, so the page and pattern aren't available - the blanket pictured above was made using the original pattern, and these instructions were written out according to it - there are places where i used more or less stitches than the original pattern called for in order to get the blanket to lay flat; those are the only changes i made to the original pattern that i know of
